BT have donated satellite technology to the Fastershire campaign for use in the campaign's CREATE:Lab, a mobile training and demonstration facility able to deliver onsite support to businesses and communities across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
The CREATE:Lab is the product of Herefordshire Council's partnership in the multinational CREATE project (Connecting Rural Enterprise for A Transnational Economy) which brings together five European regions from France, the UK, Ireland and Belgium.
With the benefit of a satellite broadband connection, the CREATE:Lab can provide dynamic training sessions anywhere across in the counties, however rural, focusing on modern ICT practices including cloud storage, Virtual Private Networks and the use of 3D printers.
Though primarily tasked with supporting Herefordshire's part in the CREATE project, the CREATE:Lab also combines with other Fastershire initiatives, like the Faster Women workshops, which offer introductory training and expert advice for female entrepreneurs.
Businesses in Herefordshire interested in a demo of the CREATE:Lab should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a visit - the CREATE page has more information on the support available. Those interested in the Faster Women workshops should visit the project's page for more information.

Faster broadband provides an opportunity for businesses and potential entrepreneurs to take advantage of faster speeds to expand current or set-up new businesses, including home-based businesses, however the Women’s Business Council has found that for women in particular increasing digital confidence and internet know-how is key to this. Thanks to funding from the Government Equalities Office, Fastershire provided Faster Women networking opportunities, workshops and training for women to take advantage of how the internet can boost new and existing businesses.

The Faster City project will enhance the shopping experience for consumers and help city centre retailers to understand and exploit the changing market trends
The scheme will also pave the way for other innovations including smart infrastructure including an upgraded CCTV circuit and interactive signage.
