Internet Training
We want to make sure that everyone can benefit from the opportunities that access to faster broadband allows and a lack of digital skills is one of the biggest hurdles to people getting online.
Fastershire offers a range of support and training for beginners across Herefordshire and Gloucestershire to help develop confidence and new skills so they can do more online
Community Groups, Clubs and Charities Training
We can arrange for a tutor to provide your community group, club and charity in Herefordshire with a free ‘Introduction to the Internet’ training session.
The training can focus on a range of topics; how to send emails, search for information, shopping online, pay bills, arranging appointments and then support them to ‘have a go’ themselves.
Funded by Herefordshire Council, we can also provide laptops and tablets for the session and the free session could lead to a longer course for those who are interested in developing their skills further.
To find out more please email go-online@fastershire.com.
Go-online Grant
Local community organisations, groups, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations in Herefordshire can apply for a grant of up to £2,500.
Funded by Herefordshire Council, the grant can be used to arrange the internet support and training that your group requires, so that your members can make the most of the benefits of going online.
Types of projects that could be supported:
- Raising local awareness of the benefits to individuals of using the internet and providing support
- Providing a speaker, demonstration or training for a group relating to the use of the internet
- Training volunteers to become local mentors in helping individuals use the internet
- Providing ‘taster’ sessions in the use of the internet
Internet clubs, cafés or ‘drop in’ events to promote the use of the internet
There are limited funds but we can offer up to 80% of the total eligible project costs, up to a maximum of £2,500. The minimum that can be applied for is £250. You will need to find at least 20% of the costs yourself, although this can be ‘in-kind’ funding rather than actual money
